Torymus armatus Boheman, 1834

Morphology.- Head dorsally 2.2-2.3 times broader than long, 1.1 times broader than mesosoma; temple 0.1-0.2 apparent length of eye, nearly straight; POL 1.5 OOL, OOL 1.4 OD; vertex shiny with transverse ridges between which small but distinct piliferous punctures. Frontally seen the head is 1.3 times broader than high; distance between eyes 0.9-1.0 their lengths; mouth 3.0 malar space, malar space 0.2-0.3 length of eye; genae straight; front edge of clypeus truncate or slightly emarginate, smooth; lower face 0.6 upper face, both shiny, with superficial transverse striation, piliferous punctures small, setae long and white; eye 1.4 times longer than broad, bare.
Antenna: scape 3-3.3 times longer than broad, 0.7 length of upper face and 0.5 length of eye, not reaching middle ocellus; pedicellus+flagellum 1.3 times breadth of head; pedicellus 1.4-1.6 times longer than broad; anellus about 1.5 times broader than long; F1 and F2 1.1-1.2 times longer than broad, broader than pedicellus, F7 quadrate or very slightly longer than broad, 1.5 times broader than pedicellus, clava 1.8-1.9 times longer than broad; sensilla in two rows on each segment.
Mesosoma about twice as long as broad; mesonotum 0.8 times longer than broad, shiny with large piliferous punctures, the space between smooth, setae white, longer than OD; scutellum 1.3 times longer than broad, sculpture as mesonotum, with frenum about one third length of scutellum, flange broad with distinct carinae. Dorsellum smooth, with very faint median carina; propodeum shiny without median carina, but with several longitudinal carina on lateral sides, its length about one third length of scutellum.
Hind leg with coxa twice as long as broad, bare with complete dorsal carina; femur 3.8 times longer than broad; tibia 5.8 times times longer than broad; shorter spur 0.9 length of longer one, which is 0.3 length of metatarsus and slightly shorter than tibial breadth. Mesepimeron 1.3 times higher than broad and 0.7-0.9 length of mid coxa.
Wing 2.3 times longer than broad; costal cell:M:PM:ST=100:65:38:10, costal cell with one complete row on upper surface, lower surface with two, both surfaces with two supplementary rows in distal half; stigma longer than high, petiolate; basal cell with a row of hairs below subcosta, closed ; basal vein with about 8 setae; speculum small, closed.
Metasoma 2.7-3.2 times longer than broad; basal sternite slightly longer than hind coxa; hypopygium, bare. Ovipositor index 3.2-3.4
Body length 4 mm.
Colour.- Green, with golden reflections in places; clypeus broadly violaceous along front edge, antennae black, scape light brown. Palpi brown. Coxae and hind femora green, rest of legs testaceous. Metasoma bluish green.
Type material.- Not found.
Biology.- Reared from Sphecidae (Hym.) in stems of Rubus.
Distribution.- Europe.
