Torymus argei Boucek, 1994

Morphology.- Head dorsally 2.2 times broader than long, xx times broader than mesosoma; temple about 1/6 apparent length of eye, nearly straight; POL twice OOL, OOL as long as OD. Frontally seen the head is 1.25 times broader than high; distance between eyes equals their lengths; mouth nearly twice malar space, malar space 0.35 length of eye; genae straight; eye 1.4 times longer than broad, bare.
Antenna: scape 0.7 length of eye, hardly reaching middle ocellus; pedicellus+flagellum 1.25 times breadth of head; pedicellus twice as long as broad; anellus slightly transverse; F1 1.3 times longer than broad, broader than pedicellus, F2 slightly longer than broad, F7 slightly transverse, clava as long as two and a half preceding segments.
Mesosoma 1.8 times as long as broad; mesonotum finely but rather irregular engraved reticulate, punctures very small, indistinct, pilosity rather dense, short. Scutellum 1.3 times longer than broad, without frenum; propodeum shiny.
Hind leg with coxa 2.2 times longer than broad, dorsally with a few short hairs; longer spur 1.1 times tibial breadth.
Mesepimeron 1.3 times higher than broad. Wing 2.3 times longer than broad; costal cell with one row of hairs on upper surface, except in distal third for one row, underside with one, row, plus scattered hairs in distal half; PM three times longer than ST, stigma hardly petiolate; basal cell bare, with some setae below submarginal vein, nearly open ; basal vein with few hairs; speculum large.
Metasoma as long as mesosoma less pronotum; hypopygium extending 3/4 length of metasoma, bare. Ovipositor index 1.6
Body length 3.5 mm.
Colour.- Vivid green, with brassy reflections in places; antennae black, scape testaceous frontally. Antennae black, scape testaceous on ventral side. Tegulae testaceous. Fore coxae testaceous, in basal half green, other coxae green. Legs testaceous, only hind femora with a green streak. Metasoma bluish green with two transverse violaceous bands.
Type material.- Holotype: , (BMNH).
Biology.- Reared from Arge ochropus (Gmelin) or A. pagana (Panzer) (Symphyta, Argidae).
Distribution.- Germany.
