Torymus affinis

Torymus affinis (Fonscolombe, 1832).

Morphology.- Head dorsally 2.0-2.1 times as broad as long, temples 0.3-0.4 apparent length of eye, slightly curved; POL 2.1-2.2 times OOL, OOL 1.1-1.3 OD. Vertex finely reticulate with small punctures and a fine groove between lateral ocellus and eye.
Frontally seen the head is 1.3-1.4 times broader than high; distance between eyes 1.1-1.2 their length. Mouth 2.2-2.5 times malar space, the latter 0.3-0.4 length of eye. Genae nearly straight. Lower face 0.6 times upper face. Upper face finely reticulate with distinct punctures near eyes, especially between eyes and ocelli. Lower face more or less transversely alutaceous. Clypeus smooth with a slightly produced front edge. Eye 1.3-1.4 times longer than broad.
Scape 2.9-3.0 times longer than broad, 0.6 times length of eye, 0.7 length of upper face; pedicellus plus flagellum 1.2 times breadth of head, reaching level of middle ocellus; pedicellus about 1.5 times longer than broad, anellus 1.7 times broader than long, F1 quadrate till 1.2 times longer than broad, F2 slightly shorter, F7 0.6-0.7 times as long as broad and 1.5 times broader than pedicellus, clava 1.9 times longer than broad. Sensilla uniseriate, nearly as long as funicle segment.
Mesosoma 1.6-1.7 times longer than broad and as broad as head. Length of pronotum 0.4-0.5 that of mesonotum which is 0.7 times longer than broad and finely transversely rippled with many but very small punctures, setae about as long as lateral ocellus; scutellum 1.2-1.3 times longer than broad, sculpture as on mesonotum, though less transversely rippled and with fewer but larger punctures, frenum 0.3 length of scutellum, very finely alutaceous, flange normal. Dorsellum smooth with a faint median carina. Propodeum about 0.4 length of scutellum, finely reticulate, with indication of fine median carina.
Hind coxa 2.2-2.4 times longer than broad, dorsally with 2-5 hairs on proximal half. without dorsal carina, hind femur 4.7 times longer than broad, hind tibia 6.3-6.7 times; shorter spur 0.6 longer one, which is 0.4 times metatarsus and 1.3 times longer than breadth of tibia. Mesepimeron 1.3 times longer than broad, as long as mid coxa or very slightly longer (1.1 times).
Forewing 2.5 times longer than broad, costal cell:M:PM:ST=100:69:18:8.5. Costal cell with a short hair row in distal third and some additional hairs proximally and distally on upper side, on underside one complete hair row with scattered hairs in distal half; stigma rounded, distinctly petiolate; basal cell closed or nearly so, with three to five hairs near basal vein, which is hairy; speculum extending till M, open.
Metasoma 2.3 times longer than broad, about as long as mesosoma; basal sternite as long as or longer than hind coxa; hypopygium about 0.75 length of metasoma, with some hairs on distal third or hairy all over. O.i 5.2-6.0.
Length 2.3- 3.1 mm.
Colour.- Blue green, antenna black, scape with bluish sheen. Coxae and femora concolorous with body, fore tibiae testaceous with a green streak, mid and hind tibiae brown sometimes with metallic sheen; tarsi testaceous. Wing veins dark testaceous till reddish brown, tegulae bluish green, sometimes testaceous distally.
Type material.- Cinips affinis Fonscolombe: Neotype: , (BMNH), designated by Graham (1992: 1098).
